Music all the way from Zimbabwe!

CCM is proud to be working with one of Denver’s best African, hip-hop, dancehall artists, Fafi. I recently mixed a track of Fafi’s that was recorded in a studio in Zimbabwe. The resulting blend is an authentic mixture of Zimbabwe music and feel, coupled with an American hip-hop, almost dancehall, flare.

To add this American flare, I integrated Reason with ProTools using Rewire. After finding the tempo of the track with a click metronome in ProTools, I was then able to work in Reason and add a constant, sometimes pulsating, kick drum to give the track more energy and momentum. In addition, for choruses I added a couple snares and a little hi hat pattern with some hard-panned, ping-pong echo and a BP filter. This brought the chorus to a higher place without doin too much and sounded really great. For a sneak peak of this Fafi track or to see what we can do for you, stop by the studio and check us out!
