Audio EQing - Quick Tip

Sometimes when I am doing positive EQing - boosting frequencies - I like to locate my boosted frequencies individually, or rather, independently of each other. By this I mean that I will EQ one band to taste, and then I will bypass the finished band to continue onto the next additive band, etc. Once I am comfortable with my band-boost selections I will enable all of them and do some fine-tuning to finish their relationship. In addition to sometimes EQing in this way, I will alsosometimes follow the old rule of thumb of finding the frequency I wanna boost and boosting half of that frequency as well for a smoother positive EQ ramp. When Doing more drastic EQing, I generally work off of the frequencies I have manipulated, so in this case I will leave the previous EQ bands enabled when working on each new band. Either way you choose to EQ, remember to let your ears make the final decision because there are a thousand ways to China, so to speak.
