Gospel musician Frank Anderson is working with CCM Studios on his new song, Matchless King. To start we tracked his instrument orchestration from his Roland Keyboard through two DI boxes into our Oram Sonics MWS pre-amp, bypassing the EQ and roll-off options. Once we laid the raw melodic foundation for the vocal elements to sit on, we tracked Anderson through our Grace pre-amp using a Neumann U87. On the Neumann we activated the low end roll-off and the -10 db attenuation switches to sharpen his voice in the mix and handle some hot-spots we encountered in our trial-run. Once the mic settings and placement were spot on, Frank’s voice took the spotlight as he nailed his stacked harmonies with ease. Late into our session, Frank demonstrated his lyrical talents by hitting a high falsetto far past the range of most vocalists, male and female.

Besides Frank’s vocal and instrumental talents pushing the session, both of his daughters were in as well with lots of personality to entertain the process.
