Last month I was in New York City for the AES convention and had a chance to check out some great gear as well as seeing some old friends and making some new ones. 
I was there to do a presentation on Sennheiser’s new line of small diaphram condensor microphones, thier 8000 series. In particular, I presented examples of recordings
made with the Sennheiser MKH 8050, a super-cardioid pattern mic. It was a great opportunity to show how the mic could be used in a variety of applications. Here is an example of the 8050 used as a main pair recording a string orchestra:
