Recording Session With John Madden
A brief recording session at CCM Studios with John Madden!!
(no not the commentary), a passionate and hard edge emcee. His voice has a very unique quality. I found myself trying to figure out just how to bring out the brilliancy in his sound. This issue not uncommon when recording many vocalists. The perfect ‘one-two-punch’ solution was the combination of an Oram Sonics pre-amp and the trusty Neumann U87.
As a general rule of thumb, I typically brighten tonal qualities for vocalists and acooustics (when necessary) on the ‘pre’ side.
