Vince Madison pianist adds to Herrera project
Denver Recording Sessions - CCM Studios
Pianist, Vince Madison added strings and a bass tracks to Eric Herrera’s on going solo CD project at CCM Recording Studios. Eric CD is modern Native American music featuring Dakota flute as the primary instrument.
About Vince Madison - As a sophomore in college decided to master the piano, because it would be a better vehicle for his true passion, composing. Graduating with honors from Denver University with a music composition degree, Vince traveled to New York, where he studied further under Juliard instructor Bertha Melnik, and then embraced the NYC studio scene, doing session work for labels such as Tommy Boy, Elektra and Polygram. In contrast to Dreamland , his work at that point was for rap and R&B artists, playing keyboard parts and programming synthesizers for early artists like Grand Master Flash, whose keyboard tracks were heavily sampled by other artists.
Vince has added his talent to numerous recordings for other artists and written dozens of pop songs. But with Dreamland , he decided to stop worrying about what was hip or the latest rage, and just write from the heart. And in response, his CDs have already far surpassed any of his previous efforts in terms of sales. With his new record company, “Firefly Records” Vince decided to skip the traditional record company waiting game and take his musi c directly to the people. In December 1998, when Dreamland was first released, he started playing the music live in upscale shopping malls. The response wa
s astounding. People would stop dead in their tracks, listen, then get in line to buy a CD, sometimes with tears in their eyes!
Eric ‘Many Winds’ Herrera whose heritage includes that of Blackfeet Indian, European Hispanic and German. As a musician, his talents span brass, string, percussion and flute instruments. As a performing artist, the Native American flute is his most heart-felt talent and considers the play a responsibility and an honoring of his Native American heritage. Through his music, his intent is to tell the Native American story and to enrich the lives of those who hear it. “The kindred spirit of creativity I share with Price Berryman is a true testimony of brothers in music”.
Personal Note from Eric: The Native American flute is both spiritual and story telling. The most traditional of Native American flutes are hand crafted by true artisans and are made of the highest quality soft and hard woods. Their beauty is celebrated though both sight and serenity of sound. Each musical piece has purpose of story, whether for courtship, celebration, spiritual intent, or to honor someone’s memory. The native flute is intended to take the listener on a journey though nature and heritage.
