Cello Recording with Neumann Microphones

Cello master Wayne Templeman joined classical guitarist Darren Curtis Skanson and producer Tom Capek at CCM Recording Studios to add strings to Darren’s brand new classical guitar composition “When Evening Comes”. The trio of Cello master Wayne, producer Tom, and classical guitar composer DarreSkanson, Capek, and Templeman have produced some incredible work on Skanson’s classical guitar CD’s like Classica, Solamente Romanz, A Light Classical Christmas, and Darren’s new release Duettos Cantabiles.

We were excited to use our new Grace 101 mic preamp with the Neumann KM184 as well as our awesome standby Oram MWS mic pre with a Neumann TLM103. We used an Neumann KM184 on the treble side of the cello and a Neumann TLM 103 on the bass side of the cello to round out the sound. Try the Grace 101 Mic Pre-amp at ccmstudios.com

The song was blast to record becasue it had not only arco or bowed cello but also the musicians created some wonderful pizzicato or plucked strings parts for the song as well.
