Classical Guitar Duets CD finished
The new release from Darren Curtis Skanson is a whole record full of wonderful duets. Two classical guitars, classical guitar and violin, classical guitar and cello, and classical guitar with acoustic steel string guitar are the different configurations
featured on Duettos Cantabiles. The CD Duettos Cantabiles reflects the core elements of light classical like gentle and melodic songs, familiar melodies, and fresh new classical compositions. Song features include Shubert’s Ave Maria, Pachelbel’s Canon In D, Bach’s Jesu, Joy Of Man’s Desiring, and guitar duets of the pop classics Scarborough Faire and The Beatle’s Blackbird. This is the first Light Classical release by Darren Curtis Skanson in 3 years.
” I hope you enjoy the record. It has been a cathartic experience for me. You see, I suffer from an affliction called Focal Dystonia which is an involuntary muscle cramping in a focused area of your body. Mine is in my right picking hand. There is no treatment or cure. Just 3 years ago as the affliction really kicked in, I thought my recording career was over and I went through a very dark and down period. After I hit rock bottom grieving the loss of some of my skills, I started to swing back to a more positive and “I will not be beat” attitude. Since that change, necessity has been the mother of ingenuity and I have found ways to cope with my affliction that have allowed me to keep playing.
I share this because I want to say thank you for all the support from people who keep buying my CD’s and going to my shows. I appreciate you very much and I only hope that I will be able to keep making and performing the thing that is most essential to my soul, music. Beethoven went deaf. I guess this is my cross to bear. And I, like him, press on.
Thanks for listening. Please feel free to be in touch with comments, critiques, or simply to chat.” - Darren Curtis Skanson
